SUTTON DAM CAMPGROUNDS SLOWLY REOPENING AFTER FLOODING

Heavy rains crossing the area recently forced campgrounds to be closed at Sutton Lake, with the US Army Corps of Engineers saying some recreation areas were also closed. The Gerald R. Freeman Campground will reopen on Thursday, July 23. Some sites and areas of the campground are still underwater, so some campsites will not be available. Campers with reservations may be required to move to a different campsite. The county road to Bakers Run campground is being repaired by the WV Department of Highways. Due to significant damage, there is no time frame as to when the road will reopen to traffic. The Bee Run Day Use area is open.
