She also volunteered at the Upper West Fork Community Park over the years and on one occasion, taught how to make apple butter the "old fashioned way".

Orva attended the Fairview Methodist Church at Nicut during her childhood and performed many hymns with her sisters. She was a member of the White Oak Baptist Church while raising her children.

She is survived by her husband of 72 years, Paris; and three children, Judith Shaffer of Canton, Ohio, Betty Earl of Parkersburg WV; and Bob and Pat Parsons of Canton, Ohio; 6 grandchildren, Diane, Cathy, Mark, Chris, Lisa, and Rob; 8 great-grandchildren, Heath, MaryBeth, Garrett, Rylee, Rychert, Liam, Brody, and Dylan. She is also survived by her brother, Habred and sister-in-law Jean Siers of Chloe WV; sister-in-law Leona Sears of Chloe; and many nieces and nephews.
