Responders rescued a driver from his truck Wednesday evening after it plunged into a creek swollen by rapidly rising water.

The creek, along US 33 just west of Spencer near a small shopping plaza was out of its banks with a flash flood warning being issued for Roane, Calhoun and Jackson County through Wednesday night.

Some of the first responders managed to get a line to the driver, who exited the vehicle just as it was shifting downstream.

He was pulled to land and then walked to a nearby house, apparently not suffering any serious injuries.

Law enforcement, Roane EMS and the Spencer-Roane VFD responded to the incident at 5:45 p.m.

The name of the driver was not learned.
