UPDATE: UNCONFIRMED AIRCRAFT CRASH REPORTED TUESDAY TO BRAXTON 911, SEARCH CALLED OFF

UPDATE - The search has been officially called off for a possible downed aircraft in Braxton County.

The call of a possible downed aircraft came in just before 7 p.m. Tuesday from people who live Mill Run area of Braxton near Frametown.

Crews searched several hours Tuesday night, but found nothing, with no reports of downed aircraft.

According to the Braxton County Emergency Management, the search was called off early Wednesday after a C-130 from the West Virginia Air National Guard flew a search grid in the area and did not see or pick up a distress signal.

West Virginia State Police, with support from WV National Air Guard and emergency responders from Braxton and Nicholas Counties helped in the search.

ORIGINAL STORY - The Braxton County Office of Emergency Management has received calls about a possible airplane or helicopter crash in the county.

The call came in just before 7 p.m. Tuesday from people who live in the area. There is no confirmation of the crash.

Responders are searching a remote area of Braxton county.

There are other reports that the crash may be in Nicholas or Clay counties.

Responders are focusing the search in the Frametown area, Mill Creek Road.

Thunderstorms were sweeping through the area Tuesday evening.
