Helen R. Smith, 89 of Elizabeth WV, passed away June 28, 2015 at Camden Clark Memorial Campus.A gentle loving spirit known for her twinkling blue eyes, she grew up in the Blue Ridge Mountains of NC the 7th child of nine. She was the daughter of the late Brazelton and Laura Andrews Bedsaul. Wife of the late Glen Smith and mother of the late Delano Smith. She is survived by, one son and a daughter, Edsil (Virginia) Smith and Judy (Larry) Myer; grandmother to Tiffany (Kevin) Hutchinson, David (Becky) Smith, Jeff (Dottie) Smith, Tommy (Jessie) Smith and Jason Myer; great grandmother of Sierra (Jayson) Nichols, Kayla (Dustin) Orr, Jacob (Sydney) Hutchinson, Emily Smith and Gwynn Smith. Helen was a vibrant person who enjoyed music, flowers, feeding birds, collecting baskets and bingo. She was active with the Wirt County Senior Citizens, a long time member of the Elizabeth Baptist Church, and served as the Wirt County Belle for the WV Forest Festival. She was quick with a joke, enjoyed music and being with her family. She was known to many as "Granny". She will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by both parents; husband; 1 son; brothers, Elmer, Reese, Mack, Carl, and Kyle Bedsaul and sisters, Oddie Edwards, Attie Brawley, Nora Shaw. Services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday July 2, 2015 at Matheny Whited Funeral Home of Elizabeth WV. Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 Wednesday July 1, 2015 and one hour prior to the service on Thursday. Interment will be at Foutty Cemetery of Newark WV.
