OAK HILL STABBING - Fayette County deputies have arrested a suspect in connection to a murder that Saturday afternoon.

Deputies arrested Brandon Shepard, 26, Saturday after they were called to the scene of a stabbing in the Harlem Heights area of Oak Hill, a release from the Fayette County Sheriff's Office said.

Deputies arrived to the scene ans found the victim with a stab wound in the abdomen. The victim was identified as Waylon Scarbrough, 36. He was rushed to the hospital, where he later died.

Shepard went to the Oak Hill Police Department turned himself in shortly after the stabbing.

Shepard has been charged with murder and is being held in the Southern Regional Jail.

MALDEN SHOOTING - Christopher Steven Johnson, 36, of Malden is charged with malicious wounding following a shooting in Campbell's Creek on Saturday.

When troopers arrived, they found the victim, Christopher Paxton, lying in the front yard holding his chest.

Witnesses told troopers that the suspect ran inside of a home on the street. Troopers immediately ordered the suspect to come out of the house. Johnson came out of the home and was detained by troopers, according to the court documents.

Both the suspect and the victim were taken to an area hospital to be treated for their injuries.

Once treated, Johnson told troopers that Paxton came to his house and an altercation ensued. He said he fired one shot into the ground and one shot at Paxton.

No word on the condition of Paxton at this time. Johnson was arraigned and taken to South Central Regional Jail on $100,000 bond.
