To Whom It May Concern,

I would like to take a few minutes and explain a little about our Community's current healthcare facility and our future aspirations. Minnie Hamilton Health System (MHHS) is a small, critical access hospital (CAH) and Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) in Grantsville, WV. We have 18 acute care beds, and 24 nursing home beds. We also operate an emergency room, two physician clinics, a dental clinic, and numerous clinics at all of our local schools.
We are the sole provider of these services within an hour drive of our facility. Needless to say, our hospital is the backbone of our town; not only from a health aspect, but also economically. MHHS provides over 275 jobs and $12 million annually in local salaries.

We are able to provide these services because of our unique CAH and FQHC designations. These programs provide for Medicare and Medicaid to reimburse us our costs to make the services available, with the understanding that a town of this size would otherwise struggle to survive. Because of this, there are very small opportunities for profits.

Our hospital facility was built in the late 1950's and is becoming increasingly outdated and unusable. Some of the everyday challenges include: regulatory burdens, replacement of outdated, hard to find, and expensive materials, and the ability to expand to needed services in the community due to space restrictions, etc.

While we have made the best of our situation in years' past, it is imperative that we build a new facility in order to continue meeting the needs of our patients into the foreseeable future. In our discussions with local engineers and accountants, we have determined that the hospital itself needs to raise $2 million to make the project feasible.

We began the MHHS Regional Golf Tournament in 2013 and have had two very successful tournaments, raising over $15,000 each year. We look for this year to be the most successful year yet, thanks to our generous donors and participants.

We realize $2 million is a daunting task, and it is not one we are taking lightly. We understand it will take time to get there, but the hospital and our employees are committed to making it happen. Therefore, we need your help. We would like to get every business possible onboard to help raise funds. This would also give the community of Grantsville and Calhoun County a breath of fresh air, and the assurance of quality, local healthcare for generations to come.

I appreciate your time and consideration. Whether you would like to donate financially, or provide a gift for our golf tournament auction-raffle, everything will go towards insuring this county's future. MHHS is a 501(c)3 organization, and will happily provide tax deduction receipts for any contribution.

Should you have any questions regarding our hospital or how you can help, please contact me at any time.

Sincerely,
Kyle A. Pierson, CPA
