COMEDY "NOISES OFF" OPENS JULY 10TH - "Cast Is Hopelessly Unready, And Baffled"

(06/26/2015)
The Tony award nominated comedy "Noises Off" by Michael Frayn will open on July 10 at the Friederich Theater in the Hermann Fine Arts Center, 500 Butler Street, Marietta, Ohio.

Presented by Theatre de Jeunesse with a cast of Mid-Ohio Valley young adults, this hilarious comedy classic begins at the dress rehearsal of the stage show "Nothing's On" where the cast is hopelessly unready, and baffled by entrances and exits, missed cues, missed lines, and bothersome props, including several plates of sardines.

In Act II, the set rotates 180 degrees to show the backstage chaos ensuing during a performance, highlighting the deteriorating relationships between the cast members that lead to offstage shenanigans and onstage bedlam.

In the Act III final performance, we see that personal friction has continued to increase. The actors remain determined at all costs to cover up the mounting series of mishaps, but it is not long before the plot is abandoned entirely and the more coherent characters are obliged to take a lead in delightful ad-libbing towards some sort of end.

Performance dates are Fridays and Saturdays July 10, 11, 17, and 18 at 8:00 p.m. with matinees at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday July 12 and July 19. Sign language interpretation will be provided for the Saturday, July 18 performance. Ticket prices are $15.00 for adults and $12.00 for senior citizens aged 60 and above and students through college. Opening night special is a "buy one get one free" ticket offer.

"Dinner and a show" discounts are available at several area restaurants. The restaurant list and specials are included on the website's home page at   www.tdej.org
