Edith Lucille Helmick, 48 - Buckhannon

Edith Lucille Helmick, age 48 of Buckhannon, West Virginia, departed this life at 11:35 p.m. Wednesday June 10, 2015 at her residence in Buckhannon, following an extended illness.

Born December 4, 1966 in Elyria, Ohio, daughter of Rose Hardman White of Glenville, WV; and the late Olen James "Buck" White.

Edith was a homemaker and Christian by faith. She enjoyed playing bingo, crafts, and talking on the phone. Edith loved to spend time with her family and friends and cared for anyone who needed it.

She always had a special place in her heart for children and even organized a free youth camp in Falls Mills WV for children of local churches from 1999-2001.

On October 18, 1996 Edith was united in marriage to Robert Earl Helmick, who survives at their Buckhannon home.

Surviving are 2 children, Tiffany Moore and husband John of Servia WV, and Dakota Joe Goodrich of Buckhannon; 1 brother, Ronnie White of Wooster OH; 2 sisters, Dawn Schwumb of Kentucky, and Ronda Ortega of Henderson NV; 1 nephew, J.J. White of Boulder City CO; and 2 grandchildren, Lexie and Wyatt Wheeler.

Also surviving are 3 young men who Edith treated as her own sons, Justin Ritter of Elkins WV, Josh Boggs of Braxton County WV, and Darius Cox of Exchange WV.

Along with her father Buck, Edith was preceded in death by 1 son, James Darren Goodrich; and 1 sister Jennifer Hook.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Church of God of Prophecy in Sand Fork WV; at 4:00 p.m. Monday, June 15, 2015 with Pastor Bryan Groves officiating. Burial will follow in the White Family Cemetery. Friends and family may call from 1-4 p.m. at the church to celebrate the life of Edith.
