Board of Directors of Calhoun Banks and Calhoun
Calhoun Banks is a $130 million community bank with The Board of Directors of Calhoun Banks recently announced the retirement of some of the members of their Board of Directors along with acceptance of new members to the Board. Retiring from the Board of Directors of Calhoun Banks are Glen Fowler, Vier Hall and Richard Maze. Newly appointed directors are Leslie Maze and Roy Henderson. Additionally, some internal promotions of members of the executive management team are being announced. James L. Bennett, who has been the President and Chief Executive Officer of both Calhoun Banks and its holding company Calhoun Bankshares, is transitioning into the President of the holding company in anticipation of a late 2016 retirement. Martha Haymaker has been named as the Chief Executive Officer of the Bank.
Jim is a graduate of Lewis County High School and Glenville State College as well as the University of Wisconsin's Graduate School of Banking. Jim currently serves as the Chairman of the Little Kanawha Area Community Foundation and is also active with the local camp of Gideons International. Jim has two children, Erin Springston of Grantsville and Christopher Bennett of Akron, OH.
Martha is a graduate of Calhoun County High School, holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Business Administration from Glenville State College and is a graduate of the West Virginia School of Banking as well as the Graduate School of Banking of Colorado. She is a member of the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church where she teaches a Sunday school class and is the choir director. Martha resides in Arnoldsburg with her husband, Hays, and son, Josh. They also have a daughter, Kara who resides in Clarksburg along with her son-in-law Brenden Osborne and grandchildren, Abryanna and Elias.
He continued to serve as a member of the Board of Directors and Chairman of the Board until May of 2015. He is a member of First Baptist Church of Grantsville. Glen resides in Grantsville with his wife of 69 years, Dorothy.
He spent his entire career in the carpentry and hardware business. He continued his education in business completing several degrees through the National Retail Hardware Association. Vier retired as the Manager of Hardman's Supply in Grantsville in 2006 a position he held since 1968. Vier resides in Mt. Zion with his wife of 50 years, Thelma. They have three children, Wilma, James and Debra Lyn (deceased) and twin granddaughters, Montana and Dakota.
He was later appointed by then Governor John D. Rockefeller as the Superintendent of Department of Highways for Wirt County and held that position for eight years. He also owned and operated a dozer/backhoe service for six years. Richard has been self-employed in the retail grocery business for thirty six years. Richard established Maze Enterprises, Inc., in 1981, and owns and operates Elizabeth FoodMart and various rental properties in Elizabeth, West Virginia. He has also been a farmer all of his life. He and his wife of 48 years, Wilma, reside in Palestine, West Virginia. He and Wilma have two children, Leslie and Joe, and three grandchildren, Tyson, Sydney and Tucker.
During her terms as Wirt County Prosecuting Attorney, Leslie was a member of the West Virginia Prosecuting Attorneys Institute Executive Council. Leslie also taught various classes throughout the State of West Virginia to law enforcement officers and prosecuting attorneys. Leslie is currently in private practice and has her law office established in Elizabeth, West Virginia. Leslie is a former member of the Wirt County Health Services Association Board of Directors and the Wirt County 911 Advisory Board. Leslie is currently a member of the Little Kanawha Area Community Foundation Advisory Board.
Roy is a strong supporter of the Forest Technology program at Glenville State College. He has hosted many student field trips and has served on their advisory board. He has also served on the Calhoun-Gilmer Career Center's advisory boards for both the Occupational Survey Program and the Environmental Technology Program. Roy enjoys fishing and hunting on his farm in Gilmer County with his son, Chris and grandson, Cole. He resides in Glenville with his wife, Deborah, a retired school teacher from Calhoun County Schools.
