MALICIOUS WOUNDING CHARGES FILED AGAINST GRANTSVILLE COUPLE - Woman Hospitalized With Multiple Injuries

UPDATE 5/29 - Grantsville Police Chief Andy Walker has arrested Corey Michael Bell, 32, of Grantsville, related to an incident early Wednesday morning in Grantsville, where reports said a woman was allegedly assaulted and injured.

The woman was identified as Tinisha Chandler, who received cuts, multiple punctures, and black eyes, requiring 32 stitches, according to a criminal complaint.

Initial 911 traffic reported the woman had been stabbed.

According to the complaint, Corey Bell, admitted to officer Walker he made physical contact with Ms. Chandler, calling it self defense.

Bell has been arrested for malicious wounding and battery, and is in Central Regional Jail with bond set at $30,000.

Also charged with malicious wounding is Shirley M. Bell, who was released on bond.

7:45 AM WEDNESDAY 5/27 - A Grantsville woman was allegedly stabbed and sustained other injuries, according to a 911 call, after she was reportedly attacked by a male assailant who was on Lower Pine Street.

The subjects involved in the affray were crossing streets in South Grantsville.

An ambulance was dispatched to Calhoun Street and a woman in her 20s was taken by Minnie Hamilton EMS to Minnie Hamilton Health System after the 6:35 a.m. incident.

The woman was reportedly transferred to a Morgantown hospital for treatment of injuries.

Unconfirmed reports in a 911 call said the woman was stabbed multiple times, including in the back and leg, and had injuries to the face.

Grantsville Police Chief Andy Walker and Sheriff Carl Ballengee responded to the incident.

The officers found a suspect hiding in the attic of the residence, and took two subjects into custody.

Grantsville Police Chief Andy Walker, who is the investigator, asked for a Crime Scene Lab to be called to the location and notified Children Protective Services.
