Jackie Lee "Beardy Jack" Smith, 65 - Newton

Jackie Lee "Beardy Jack" Smith, 65, of Newton, West Virginia, went to be with the Lord, May 24, 2015.

He was born April 17, 1950, in Charleston WV, a son of the late Porter Jennings and Georgia Etta McCormick Smith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers; a nephew, Kenneth Smith; great nephews, Kerry Duncan and Scottie Collins; great great niece, Paytin Fay Duncan.

Jackie owned and operated Smith's Salvage Yard.

He loved life, his family and friends. He enjoyed going to car shows, yard sales, swap meets and flea markets. He loved finding bargains and old cars.

Jackie will be greatly missed by many.

Survivors include his companion, Betty Smith of Newton; three brothers, Darris Smith of Newton, John Smith of Amma WV and Frank Smith of Spencer WV; two sisters, Barbara Collins of Newton and Janice O'Dell of Spencer; several nieces, nephews, cousins and two very special great nephews, Cody and Chance Smith of Newton.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 29 at the Newton Baptist Church, Newton, with the Rev. Dean Rogers and Dewayne Collins officiating. Burial will be in the Keen Cemetery, Newton. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at the John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer and at the church one hour before the funeral.
