The whip-poor-wills are back and singing for area residents and the locust blossoms are bountiful with some trees nothing but white. They are tasty when deep fried in a batter. Years with lots of locust bloom were always considered to be good corn years.

Cleanup day at the Creston Community Building in May 14, 15 & 16. All willing workers are urged to come and help.

The Creston neighborhood watch picked up the trash along W. Va. 5 had a rather uneventful day, that is, until they met up with Brer Snappin' Turtle who had a rather unfriendly attitude. Unfortunately we wasn't big enough to make turtle soup.

The Midnight Supply Corp. called on Freddie Bush's timber operations which were, at the time, on the old Elgie Lockhart place. Freddie has now moved to Ball Knob.

The folks who maintain the Ground Hog (Mt. Pleasant) cemetery and church are having a "Donate your soles" event on Monday May 18 from 10 til noon at the Foodmart in Elizabeth, from 1 til 3 at the Save-A-Lot in Spencer and from 4 until 7 at the Arnoldsburg Park in Calhoun County. Bert Marks' daughter, Janet Jett is heading up the activity an d she can be contacted at 304-489-7492.

Ferrell & Joe Griffin were attending to business in Tucker's Creek.

Frankie Mowrey who is suffering from Alzheimers is not doing well at all.

Jimmy O'Dell, age 86, passed away not too long after his wife Mary lost her fight with Alzheimers. They were the parents of Dr. David O'Dell the famous fiddle & banjo player, nuclear physicist, etc.

Jeannette Sue Kyer, age 70, of Brooksville passed away after an extended illness. She was the daughter of Albert & Zella Ferrell.

Louise Gale Starcher, age 76, of Cremo passed away. She was the wife of Bobby J. Starcher and a sister of "Windy" Cooper.

A large crowd was on hand at Broomstick for the memorial for Bill Howley, age 62, who met an untimely death on I-79. He was able to stop the so called PATH electric transmission line after showing that there was no real justification for building the line through the most scenic parts of West Virginia.

Deo Mace, age 75, of Sand Ridge passed away after a long illness. He was a farmer and oil & gas producer. For several years he was the local inspector for the Office of Oil & Gas and was noted for being fair. When one politically connected fellow banned him from his locations, Deo took that as a badge of honor.

The best known local spaceman took his motor patrol and worked the driveway for the new Wirt DNR headquarters.

The Wirt road crew was mowing the berm on W. Va. 5.

Denver & Tammy McFarland, Preston & Dawn Ball, Dan & Tonya West had a get together with six ice cream cakes, 3 German chocolate cakes with coconut, chocolate fudge drizzle and German icing, 3 strawberry cakes with chocolate drizzle and strawberry icing. A fun time was had by all who do not have to be concerned about their AIC level.

At a recent family gathering it was decided to see who was the best shot using an array of guns (sort of a practice should some of those terrorists decide to come calling). The young female in the group outshot them all much to the chagrin of the "Macho" male members of the family.

The USDA's autumn olive is in bloom showing once again how "government programs to 'help' become a curse until the end of time". The big cities are feeling the results of the so called "war on poverty" which has had disastrous results.

A suit has been filed in federal court over wells drilled by Chesapeake [and now operated by Southwestern] in/near Wheeling on lands that were not leased. After the wells were put into production Chesapeake hired a Parkersburg firm to try to get leases from those who owned the property. Fraud is being charged.

Lots more big logs have been hauled down from Goose Nest.

Jackie & Helen Nutter were in a bad car wreck and Helen was badly injured. She is now out of intensive care and is in Room 423 at the city hospital in Parkersburg.

NOAA was again caught changing temperatures in Maine from 1895 to the present. Over that time the actual temperatures were lowered at total of 151.2 degrees Fahrenheit to show a "warming" to protect the great $27 billion/year scam.

Mountaineer Xpress a part of Nisource's Columbia Gas indicated that they had lots of signups for transportation of the mystery gas line that is to go 150 miles and cross Wirt & Roane Counties. It is understood that it is to go to Leach Kentucky which is just below Catlettsburg, the location of the big oil refinery. If it is to take 2.7 billion cubic feet of gas/day it likely will be another of the 42" gas lines. Travelers report seeing lots of pipe being moved on US 50. This would indicate that the big boys plan to drill many more wells to keep all these big lines full of natural gas, some of which will be exported, much to the chagrin of Putin the Russian dictator. The ACP [Atlantic Coast Pipeline] apparently is having problems in Nelson County Virginia where it is described as all pain and no gain.

The Big Eared One apparently has decided to cut the pay of military men and women as well as benefits. It would seem that freebies to illegal aliens should be stopped as well as the bonuses to the tax cheats at the IRS and the folks at the EPA who want to shut down American agriculture and other legitimate businesses.

Broadway Joe said he was going to back Madame Hillary instead of coming back to be the big frog in the little pond. While Joe got a bogus degree for his daughter from the little university up next to Star City, Hillary's daughter got a $10 million apartment in Manhattan. He plans to learn how it is done. Some years back Bill Gates who was a liberal darling, voted straight Democrat and talked about all those things that the party stays mum about in West Virginia had the wrath of the federal government at the EU (European Union) brought to bear on him as he did not make donations to the Clintons and his competitor who grew up in W. Va. and knew all about dealing with corrupt politicians did. The fracas cost Gates personally over a billion (with a b) and much more for his company.
