GRANTSVILLE CLEAN-UP DAY BIG SUCCESS

(05/12/2015)
Grantsville's Clean-Up Day was a big success Saturday, with a group of 25 women, men and children gathered to begin the spring clean-up of the town of Grantsville.

"They came bearing wheelbarrows, shovels, brooms, and gloves," said councilwoman Dorothy McCauley.

"Among this group were Clara and Vada Barnhart, with their gloves tucked in their pockets ready to help and keep us energized," said McCauley.

Also in the group was Girl Scout Troop 1055, Black Diamond, cleaning one complete street and ridding it of trash, weeds cut from sidewalks, around the courthouse, and the town office.

The volunteers swept and cleaned up dirt in road areas, and the flower beds renewed, plus some weed eating.

Some worked at the islands near Foodland and painting was done at the town office, flowers were put at the office steps.

"All in all, we felt we accomplished a lot, for a good start, and all enjoyed food before they left," said McCauley.

Those working were: Girl Scout Troop 1055—Asalyn Patten, Lacy Hicks, Jasmine Tanner, Destiny Tanner and Troop Leader Rebekah Patten, plus Mandy Hicks, Macie Tanner, Helen Morris, Terry Harris, Chris Thornton, Roger Jarvis, Shelvia and Erica Jones, Clayton, Erin, Clara and Vada Barnhart, Curt and Kristin Garretson, Tim and Pam Davis, Carroll and Dorothy McCauley. Joe Morris, Aren Morris and Jim Morris.

McCauley expressed appreciation to all who came and worked.
