ITCHY EYES, SNIFFLING AND SNEEZING?

(05/06/2015)
This week there's lots of sniffling, sneezing and itchy eyes across the state, the pollen count is running really high.

Tree pollen has been an issue, but it will fade in a few weeks.

"It's the non-flowering trees that pollinate by wind that discharges large amounts of pollen in the air," said Dr. Chandra Kumar of the Asthma and Allergy Center in Charleston.

It's this pollen that you can sometimes see on your vehicle.

It causes local inflammation of the eyes, nose and throat, causing the classic allergy symptoms. You can get over-the-counter medications to lessen the symptoms, such as antihistamines and nasal sprays.
