WV KNIFE AND GUN CLUB - Preston Man Murders Tunnelton Woman

(04/18/2015)
PRESTON MURDER - 37-year-old John Wayne Strawser of Terra Alta, Preston County, has been charged with First Degree Murder in the death of 43-year-old Amy Lou Buckingham of Tunnelton.

Investigators were called to the home on North Street in Tunnelton just before p.m. for a reported shooting. They found Buckingham lying in the driveway of the home dead.

Police said Buckingham and Strawser were having an argument when a single gunshot was fired.

Strawser then allegedly drove away from the scene and was later located by two Sheriff's Deputies.

Strawser then tried to run again by driving away but deputies continued to pursue the vehicle. Strawser then drove into a field and over a hill where he eventually crashed and caught fire. Strawser then ran from police.

Officials eventually caught up with Strawser at his home where he was taken into custody.

He is currently in the Tygart Valley Regional Jail.

WANTON SHOOTING - A warrant has been issued for Keith Allen Hayne, 30, of Charleston, for wanton endangerment in Cross Lanes.

The Sheriff's Department said a woman saw Haynes steal a license plate from a vehicle, and after describing the suspect's vehicle to her husband, he followed the vehicle to Cross Lanes.

Haynes motioned for the man to come toward the car and Haynes fired a shot in the man's direction. The man was still in his car, but the bullet did strike the vehicle.

Haynes fled, but again the man followed him. Haynes then exited his vehicle and fired at the witness's vehicle once again.

Police have located the vehicle used by Haynes, and they also found a firearm they believe Haynes used as well.
