WV KNIFE AND GUN CLUB - No Charges In Child Shooting

(04/10/2015)
NO CHARGES IN SHOOTING - Prosecutors have determined the shooting of an 11-year-old boy in Marion County was a "tragic accident."

According to Preston County Prosecuting Attorney Mel Snyder, who oversaw the case after Marion County authorities recused themselves from the investigation, there will be no charges filed in the April 9, 2014 shooting.

The boy and his brothers, ages 13 and 8, were playing in the room they shared in their Fairmont home when the 11 year old was shot in the head.

He reportedly largely recovered from the incident with some permanent impairment.

Detectives determined a Ruger LCP pistol, purchased legally by the boys' father, Ian Ciemania, was kept in the house for self-defense purposes.

During the investigation, the 13-year-old told police the gun accidentally discharged striking his brother.

Snyder indicated there is no basis for criminal charges in the case and the investigation is complete.

ARMED ROBBERY - Just after 8:30 p.m. Thursday, the Marion County Sheriff's Department responded to an armed robbery in Fairmont. The armed robbery happened at the CVS in Marion Square.

No arrests have been made.
