Asst. Chief Johnson examines damage

A Leading Creek dwelling was heavily damaged by fire Wednesday night. Firemen quickly brought the blaze under control after it was reported at 7:18 p.m. The Grantsville VFD had barely regrouped from an earlier blaze on Wigner Street in Grantsville.

Assistant Fire Chief Dave Johnson said he was told the double wide modular home had been owned by Julie Lamp of Grantsville. No one was home when the fire started, although a neighbor said it had been occupied by Nick and Sherry Parsons and their infant child.

Fire did extensive damage to bedroom area

No immediate cause of the blaze was suggested.

Most of the fire was confined to a bedroom and closet area, although the dwelling received extensive water and smoke damage.

The Smithville VFD went to the scene to assist with the Arnoldsburg VFD, which was advised to return to station before their arrival. Calhoun EMS dispatched an ambulance.
