COUNTY EXTENSION SERVICE COMMITTEE TO MEET THURSDAY

(03/25/2015)
The Calhoun County Extension Service Committee will meet on Thursday at 4:30 p.m., at Calhoun County Courthouse, Small Courtroom. The meeting is open to the public.

The agenda will include the following: Financial Support for Classified Staff, 2015-2016 Budget Memorandums, 2015-2016 Employee Memorandums, and relocating the WVU Calhoun County Extension Office.

County Extension service committees were created by a 1963 state law, and exist in every county to assist West Virginia University faculty agents and staff in meeting the county's Extension educational needs.

The committee is responsible for entering into a memorandum of understanding with WVU Extension Service for the employment of personnel; preparing a financial memorandum of agreement with the county commission and the county board of education for their support of Extension work; and giving guidance, counsel, and assistance in the development of the county Extension program.

State law requires the committee to be made up of county Farm Bureau president, county Community Educational Outreach Service president, county 4-H Leaders Association president, a county commissioner, a county board of education member, a county Grange representative, and two county residents appointed by the WVU Board of Governors. If any of these organizations do not exist in the county, the Board of Governors may appoint a county resident to fill the committee position. The board also can appoint one member of any other active county farm organization not already represented.

For more information, contact the WVU Extension Service Calhoun County office at 304-354-6332.

The WVU Extension Service serves as the outreach division of West Virginia University. Extension has offices in all 55 counties, which provide citizens with knowledge in areas such as 4-H and youth development, agriculture, family and consumer sciences, health, leadership development and community and economic development.
