Hurthel Willard Garrett, 83, of Mt. Zion, WV passed away on Saturday, March 7, 2015 at Minnie Hamilton Health System. Hurthel was born January 23, 1932, a son of the late Willard Hurthel and Louie Offutt Garrett. He was a member of Sand Ridge Albert's Chapel United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Leah Leach Garrett of Mt. Zion; daughters, Brenda (Bernard) Whipkey and Connie (Paul) Longfellow both of Mt. Zion; son, Stanley (Pam) Garrett of Mt. Zion; brother Cleston Garrett of Arnoldsburg, WV; sisters, Mildred Justice of Arnoldsburg; Arlena Gray of Akron, Ohio; Maudie Pfamatter of Remington, VA; and Wilma Mowrey of Creston, WV; grandchildren, Phillip Perkins, David Overbay, Michalle Perkins, Trenda Overbay, and Leslie Garrett; great-grandchildren, Lily Mae Perkins and Alie Perkins. Mr. Garrett is preceded in death, in addition to his parents, by brother, Robert Garrett; sister, Phyllis Garrett; grandson, Gary Perkins; and great-granddaughter, Ella Perkins. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at Stump Funeral Home in Arnoldsburg. Rev. David Weaver will officiate. Interment will be in the Sycamore Baptist Church Cemetery in Mt. Zion, WV. Friends and family may call at Stump Funeral Home in Arnoldsburg from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 10, 2015 and one hour prior to the services on Wednesday.
