ROANE CO. SCHOOL LEVY MAJORLY DEFEATED

Final tally on the Rpane County school board levy, with a total of 1879 votes, 692 votes for and 1197 votes against. Voting for the levy was 36.8 percent. Voting against the levy 63.2%. The passage needed a simple majority. The county has not passed an operational levy since the 1940s. Roane is among about a dozen WV counties without an operational levy. In Nov. 2014, a $3.5 million Calhoun Schools 5-year operating levy failed to pass. Voting for the levy 685, against the levy 1,088. In May, the Calhoun School levy fared better, Voting against the levy 845, for the levy 727.
