The West Fork of Little Kanawha frozen

Most secondary roads remained ice covered
Sunday; icicles hang along Calhoun highways

The weekend chill-down saw temperatures dropping to zero or below in Calhoun, with whiteouts and extremely hazardous roads.

There were several vehicle crashes and vehicles sliding into ditches.

Many secondary roads were ice-covered Sunday evening with the temperature rising to 12 degrees in most areas.

Wind gusts reached 50 miles per hour Saturday, but most of the wind was barely above local elevations.

It was a little warmer at Frozen WV in Calhoun, the Hastewells reported 4 degrees.

Sunday afternoon there was a two vehicle collision on Millstone Hill (Rt. 16) blocking the highway. No injuries with the Arnoldsburg VFD responding.

A vehicle nearly went into the Little Kanawha River Saturday near Creston, injuring two occupants, both taken to Minnie Hamilton Health System.

The Grantsville VFD responded to a car blocking Rt. 16 on Town Hill Saturday.

The Arnoldsburg VFD responded for traffic control to a car in the ditch on Rt. 16 near Millstone Hill Saturday evening

Temperatures are expected to drop near zero Sunday night.
