MOST FIVE FORKS-BIG SPRINGS PHONES OUT FOUR DAYS RUNNING - Frontier Fix Promised By Feb. 21, Poor Service "A Way Of Life"

(02/16/2015)
Since Tuesday's Calhoun Commission vs. Frontier Communications formal WV Public Service Commission hearing in Grantsville, most Five Forks-Big Springs landline phone customers have been without service.

The years-long phone disruptions have increased during the last two years, the company acknowledges it is because of antiquated equipment.

Frontier, in the hearing, said the problem will be fixed by February 21, the company has been working on the problem since May, 2014 when the commission filed the formal complaint, with Frontier missing two deadlines.

Frontier's attorney Joseph Starsick, prior to the hearing last Tuesday, had requested the commission to drop the complaint, based on their promises it would be fixed.

The commission denied the request.

Starsick, who started his presentation on lying, asking Calhoun commissioner Bob Weaver, "How many times has Frontier lied to you?", denied issuing the drop request, but the commission has the request in writing.

In fact, the morning of the hearing, Frontier was requesting that Tuesday's formal PSC hearing in Grantsville be canceled.

The commission in the formal complaint, based upon hearing about problems in the Chloe area, added a statement regarding the matter, although the commission has not directly received complaints from customers living in that area.

Calhoun residents, during the hearing, said disrupted or no service has become a way of life, including the company's poor high-speed Internet service.

Some residents said they had periodically requested some reduction in their monthly bills.

Many Calhoun residents have requested a base-line $20 monthly fee for high speed Internet service, a price offered to new customers.
