Tyler Sims and Ethyn Miller combined for 43 points and the inside men - Sam Brady, Zack Yanero, Luke Sheldon and Tyler Gerwig - took Wood County Christian's high-scoring 6-8 Logan Huck out of the game as Calhoun posted a 70-59 victory over the homestanding Wildcats Friday night.

The Red Devils opened quickly and never looked back as they upped their record to 7-10 on the season.

Sims, generally a slow starter, was hot in the first half as he scored 11 of his game-high 25.

Miller, who scores a lot of late points, followed script with 13 in the fourth period including nine free throws as the Wildcats were forced to foul in an attempt to catch up. Miller's free throw shooting ruined that strategy.

The high scoring guard combo got a solid game from the Red Devils inside players as Yanero had nine and Brady eight with eight rebounds. Guard-forward combo player Dylan Heiney added six and Sheldon and William Baker had two each.

Gerwig and Dakota Jarvis both played but did not score.

Douglas Ernst led WCC, 14-7, with 17 while Mitch Morris had 12 and DJ Spencer 10. Huck was limited to seven points and four rebounds.

Wood County Christian won the junior varsity game 37-30 as Hayden Mosor and Louden Mahoney scored 12 apiece, For Calhoun Austin Gribble led the way with nine and Ben Frederick had six.

Caden Hicks and Ross Vineyard had four apiece, Case Carter and Jarvis three each and David Washington one. Soney Wilson played but did not score.

Chris Kirkland, Caleb Nicholas, Noah Allen and Jaron Hall did not play.

Calhoun returns to action Wednesday at Doddridge.
