AT&T INSTALLING SEVEN CELL PHONE TOWERS IN CALHOUN

Improved cell phone service is likely coming to Calhoun, after years with no new installations. AT&T has obtained a building permit to install a new transceiver on a current tower at Ron Lanes, according to 911/OES Director Kathy Wood. The company is moving forward with the installation of about six additional towers along US 33-119 from the Roane Co. line to the Gilmer County line, with some of the towers being installed along State Rt. 16 south of Arnoldsburg to the Clay Co. line. The company has yet to make a formal announcement of the expansion. AT&T has reportedly installed a cell transceiver at Broomstick in northern Calhoun.
