PHYSICIAN LEAVING - The principal physician at Wirt's Coplin Clinic is leaving.
Administrator Dee Scritchfield said her departure is linked to the medical malpractice
problem.
Scritchfield said Dr. Lakshmi Avula is leaving on October 31. "She has served the
community well," she said.
VOTE ON SUNDAY HUNTING - Wirt voters will decide on whether to have Sunday
hunting on November 5. All 35 counties that had the issue on the primary election
ballot, voted against it. About five more counties will be voting on the issue next
week.
COMMISSION SEAT IN CONTENTION - Democrat Roy Copen is facing Republican Gary
Bailey for a seat on the County Commission. Former Commissioner Lention Offutt
decided not to run for re-election.
