(02/05/2015)
Your electric bill is going up.

Mon Power and Potomac Edison's increases have been approved by West Virginia Public Service Commission, a rate case settlement.

The case involved the recovery of expenses from two weather events in 2012. It is also related to increased costs at coal-fired power plants and improvements to enhance power reliability.

The companies will recovery about $63 million in additional revenues.

Typical Mon Power and Potomac Edison residential customers using 1,000 kilowatt hours per month can expect their bills to increase to $100.49. That's up from $92.38.

The new rates will take effect Feb. 25.
