RITCHIE AUTHORITIES INVESTIGATING ALLEGED THREATS AT RITCHIE CO. HIGH - Ravenswood Schools Put On Lock-Down Over Man Spotted With Gun

(01/29/2015)
Police were sent to Ritchie County High School Wednesday morning to reportedly investigate threats made on social media.

The Ritchie County school board office did confirm that a response was made regarding a posting on social media.

The school was not placed on lockdown.

The superintendent of Ritchie County Schools told state media there is increased security at Ritchie County High School after a threatening comment was made on social media, indicating they do not believe the anonymous post was a true threat.

Parents are reporting threats made on social media by a person called "Bad Rebel."

Police were reportedly searching the school before students arrived.

Parents, based on social media comments, were coming to the school to take students home.

The principal of Ritchie County High School could not be reached for comment.

Two Ravenswood schools were on lockdown Wednesday morning after a man with a gun was spotted near the schools.

The man was detained and questioned and it was determined that he had just purchased the gun at a pawn shop. He had all the paperwork from the gun purchase and was not charged.
