Garland G. Deweese, 82 - Looneyville

Garland G. Deweese, 82, of Looneyville, West Virginia, died Tuesday, January 20, 2015, in the St. Francis Hospital, Charleston.

He was born August 1, 1932, at Tariff, Roane County, a son of the late Gail Deweese and the late Alice Russell.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepmother, Grace Jarvis Deweese; paternal grandparents, who raised him from the age of five, Neal and Dairie Deweese; three half-sisters, Nada Coon, Della Rummel and Linda White; one half-brother, Ray Deweese.

Garland was a retired employee of Pennzoil and a member of the Teamsters Union, Local 175, Charleston. He was a member of the Linden Lodge No. 83 A.F. and A.M., the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry and the Linden Chapter No. 152 Order of the Eastern Star. Also, he was a member of the Henrys Fork Baptist Church and the W.Va. Draft Horse and Mule Association.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Wanda M. Brannon Deweese; daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Eddie McClain of Spencer WV; two sons, Perry Deweese of Looneyville and Phillip Deweese of Dawson PA; three grandsons; one granddaughter; two step great grandchildren; one half-brother, Richard Deweese of Charleston WV; four half-sisters, Nina Bailey of Milton WV, Judy Smith of Teays Valley WV, Dorothy Black of Charleston and Donna Collins of St. Albans WV.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 23 at the John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, with the Rev. Homer Hensley officiating. Burial, with Masonic graveside rites, will be in the Clover Cemetery, Clover. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, where an Eastern Star memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m.
