WV KNIFE AND GUN CLUB - Two Shot, One Dead, Car Crash At Rand

CRASH AND SHOOTING IN KANAWHA - There was a deadly shooting in Rand about 5:15 a.m. Friday, police receiving numerous 911 calls about shots fire and a car crash.

Police found a vehicle flipped on its top. There was a woman inside the vehicle with several gunshot wounds and she was taken to a local hospital.

Police also found a man lying in the road. He had been shot and killed.

Police found Christopher "Snacks" Carey, 27, of Rand, pronounced dead at the scene.

Deputies say Latisha Crawford, 28, of Rand, was found in the wrecked vehicle. She had also suffered three gunshot wounds to the right leg, right arm and chest area. As of of 2:45 p.m., Crawford was still listed in ICU at CAMC General.

They did charge one person with fleeing. Deputies say James Daugherty, 20, of Charleston, was charged with fleeing, possession of a controlled substance, and carrying a concealed deadly weapon.

According to a news release, Daugherty was recently engaged in a fight with a Kanawha County Deputy Sheriff. Deputies say on January 9 he was arrested for attempted armed robbery, possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, carrying a concealed weapon without a license, and fleeing.

As a safety precaution, several schools were closed in the area of the shooting while investigators searched for suspects.

TSA WEAPONS REPORT WV AIRPORTS - The Transportation Security Administration is reporting an increase in the number of firearms that were discovered by TSA officers at checkpoints at West Virginia airports. In 2014, the TSA says 6 firearms were detected at three West Virginia airports. That's up two firearms from 2013.

CAMERON YOUTH CHARGED - A 14-year-old Cameron boy faces an involuntary manslaughter charge stemming from the fatal shooting of 19-year-old James Russell Keyser Parker on Dec. 26.

The boy is also is charged in a juvenile petition with wanton endangerment involving a firearm.

Cameron Police Chief Mike Younger tells The Intelligencer and Wheeling News-Register that the boy thought the gun was unloaded when he pulled the trigger.

CHARLESTON GUNSHOT - A man is being treated for a gunshot wound and deputies are trying to find out who shot him.

Police and medics were called to a mobile home in Amandaville.

They found Shaun Tolbert with a bullet wound in his leg. Initial evidence shows the bullet went through the wall of his camper.

Deputies discovered the mobile home was shot multiple times leading them to believe the shooting wasn't random.

SHOOTS FIRED - Gunfire rang out on Charleston's west side Thursday morning about 3 a.m. Thursday.

Fortunately, no one was injured, but police are still searching for the person or persons who are responsible.

Bullets went flying, the only evidence police have to go on in finding the shooters shell casings that were found outside one of the homes.
