JEFFERY SENTENCED TO PRISON FOR METH MAKING - Circuit Court Hears Several Cases

Judge Thomas Evans III held circuit Court in Grantsville Wednesday.

Prosecutor Shannon Johnson said Matthew Jeffrey was sentenced to two to ten years in the state penitentiary for operating a clandestine drug laboratory. He was also ordered to pay court costs.

Alfred Starcher, Jr., 28, appeared for a Probation Revocation hearing. Starcher admitted to violating his probation and was sentenced to 120 days in the regional jail.

John Cash appeared in court this week for a status hearing, and was ordered to undergo a psychological evaluation and was remanded to the custody of the regional jail.

Clarke Patterson, 45, was sentenced to one to three years in the State Penitentiary for attempting to commit sexual abuse by a parent, guardian, or custodian, after entering a no contest plea, according to prosecutor Johnson. (See additional story)

Nicholas Davis and Douglas Lynch appeared for sentencing following their entry of a guilty plea to conspiracy. The court continued their sentencing hearings until July 2, 2015.

Davis and Lynch had been charged with a $2 million marijuana grow operation in Calhoun.

Danny Lockhart appeared for a pre-trial hearing on charges of manufacturing marijuana, associated with the Davis-Lynch case, and first degree sexual abuse.

His attorney moved the court for a competency evaluation of his client. The court set the case for March 23, 2015 to review the evaluation.

Timothy Bowe's case was continued to a later date for clarification of a plea agreement. Bowe had entered a guilty plea to possession of marijuana, a misdemeanor.

Prosecutor Johnson said Gary Farrell's cases for being a felon in possession of a firearm and delivery of a controlled substance were set for trial on June 30.

Krista Ferrell was sentenced to thirty days in jail for fraud in obtaining welfare benefits, a misdemeanor. She was given credit for five days time served and ordered to pay court costs.

Billy Dunbar appeared for a pre-trial hearing involving multiple counts of incest and sexual abuse by a parent, guardian, or custodian. He will come on for trial in February. (See additional story)

There were a eighteen juvenile hearings on Wednesday's docket.
