EXPERIENCING THE OUTDOORS - 2014 Sunday Hunting Results

(01/08/2015)
By Cory Boothe
Coryboothe@hotmail.com

The 2014 hunting season has closed. 2014 marked the reinstatement of Sunday hunting on private land only in Braxton, Calhoun, Mason, Nicholas, Roane, Webster and Wirt Counties for the first time since 2001 where the entire state had Sunday hunting. Fourteen counties have kept Sunday hunting since 2001. Currently, 21 of 55 counties in the state have Sunday hunting on private land only.

During the elections, some people raised concern about the safety of Sunday hunting. It is of importance to note, that not a single incident was reported in 2014 because of Sunday hunting. The beauty of it is the choice to participate or not to participate. Its like television, if I don't like what is on TV I don't have to watch it. However, its not my right to tell others they cannot watch the program.

I would like to hear from the readers. Did anyone have a true problem as a result of Sunday hunting? Did anyone benefit from Sunday hunting? Emails can be sent to   coryboothe@hotmail.com
