Lillian Ilene Bland, 94 - Mt. Zion

Lillian Ilene Bland, 94, of Mt. Zion, WV, left her earthly home to join her loved ones in Heaven December 24, 2014.

She lived most of her life in the same house in Calhoun County. Lillian was raised by her aunt and uncle, Rose and Lawson Stump. She spent most of her life as a homemaker and caregiver, who loved spending time with family, cooking, and gardening. She lived her life with Christian values, and was proud to say that she was the oldest member of Enon Baptist Church.

Lillian was blessed with many friends and neighbors, who brought her great joy in her later years. She spent the last few years of her life at the Minnie Hamilton long term care unit and also at Aging with Grace Assisted Living Home in Grantsville.

She was born April 14, 1920 to Walter and Pearl (Roberts) Fowler, and was the last surviving member of this family. Lillian was married for 65 years, to Lawrence Bland, whom preceded her in death in 2002.

She is survived by three sons, Nelson (Jenny) Bland, James (Jeannie) Bland, David (Sharon) Bland; seven grandchildren, Trava, Ward, Ashley, Scott, Eric, Jason, Cody; and two step-grandchildren, Steve and Kristi. She also had 14 great grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, Lillian was preceded in death by her brothers, Urshel, Arnise, and Duane Fowler, along with three infant siblings. She was also preceded in death by her grandson, Aaron Michael Bland.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at Stump Funeral Home in Grantsville. Pastor Eric Bland will officiate. Interment will be in the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church Cemetery in Mt. Zion, WV. Visitation will be held Monday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home and from 9 a.m. until time of service on Tuesday.
