Rev. Garry L. Bowen, 59 - Spencer

Rev. Garry L. Bowen, 59, of Spencer, West Virginia, went home to be with his Lord, Sunday, December 7, 2014.

He was born September 3, 1955 in Akron, Ohio, a son of the late John William and Lissetta Ruth Bartlett Bowen.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Thomas G. "Tom" Bowen.

Survivors include his wife, Vickie L. Sturm Bowen; daughter, Bridgette Bowen of Spencer; sons and daughters-in-law, Joseph and Heather Bowen of Philippi WV, Mark and Beth Bowen of Spencer and Austin Bowen of Gandeeville WV; brother and sister-in-law, David and Sheila Bowen of Spencer; sister and brother-in-law, Cathy and Steve Snodgrass of Spencer; 10 grandchildren, Shelby, Joshua, Renee, Autumn, Katelyn, Gracie, Kylie, Daniel, John and Bradley.

Garry was an employee of Staats Pharmacy, Spencer and a former employee of the O.J. Morrison Department Store, Spencer. He was the vice-president of the Thursday Night Bowling League at Spencer Lanes, captain of the WVRC Bowling Team and member of the U.S. Bowling Congress. Also, he was a member of the NRA.

Rev. Bowen was ordained in 1982. He was the pastor of the Stoney Point New Hope Community Church, Altizer Rd., Arnoldsburg.

He was a faithful member of the morning breakfast club at Tudor's. He enjoyed woodworking and hunting.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at the John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, with Pastor Toby Wagoner and Joseph Bowen officiating. Burial will be in the Eventide Cemetery, Spencer. Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
