FBI MUM ON IDENTITY OF BODY - Remains Found Near Clay

(10/23/2002)
The FBI and State Police are mum regarding the discovery of a male body in a remote area near Clay last Thursday. They suspect foul play, according to Sr. Trooper Jay Powers.

Unconfirmed sources say the body, described as a man about age 50, may have been dumped on Pisgah Ridge across the Elk River from the Town of Clay, possibly after it was burned in a car.

Details of the incident have been sparse, but rumors have been flying around the community for several days.

Speculation indicates the deceased male is linked to the FBI drug arrests of Vincent Golosow, 41, of Tariff, Roane County and Richard Cummings, 35, of Clay, although authorities would not confirm this.

The unknown remains have been sent to the State Medical Examiner's Office in Charleston, where an autopsy was to be conducted Tuesday.
