Dale Smith, 75 - Newton

Dale Smith, 75, of Newton, West Virginia, died Tuesday, November 25, 2014, at CAMC Memorial Hospital, Charleston.

He was born September 30, 1939 at Ivydale, Clay County, a son of the late Brooks and Dorcas Coen Smith.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Ricky Dale Smith in 2013; a sister, Sherry Lynn Smith; a brother, Curtis Brooks Smith, Jr.

Dale was an equipment operator. He was a member of the IUOE, Local 132, Charleston and the Zion Hill Baptist Church, Elana. Also, he enjoyed fox chasing, farming, raising cattle and spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Connie and Onnie Starcher, III, Debbie and Brian Scott, Linda and Shannon Runyon all of Newton; ten grandchildren and three great grandchildren; sisters, 'Jerry' Lang of Vienna WV, Charlene Jarvis of Vero Beach, Fla. And 'Nicky' White of Florida; brothers, Wayne Smith of Parkersburg WV and Melvin Smith of Looneyville WV.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 29 at the John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, with Preacher Philip Linger officiating. Burial will be at the Zion Hill Cemetery, Elana. Friends may call two hours before the funeral Friday.
