Benjamin Summerfield, 82 - Spencer

Benjamin Summerfield, 82, of Spencer, West Virginia, died Sunday, November 23, 2014, at the CAMC Memorial Hospital, Charleston.

He was born April 10, 1932, at Looneyville WV, a son of the late Leslie and Snowie Casto Summerfield.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Summerfield; stepdaughter, Barbara Cox; granddaughter, Jessica Cox; stepson, Eugene Ashby; brother, Bailey Summerfield; sisters, Betty Guthrie and Effie Lockney.

Mr. Summerfield was a dozer operator and well tender. He was a Christian and was baptized in the creek down from the Flat Fork Baptist Church, Looneyville.

Survivors include stepsons and daughters-in-law, Dennis and Wilma Ashley of Comfort WV, Keith and Tammy Ashby of Spencer, Lee and Linda Ashby of Craigsville WV, and Carl and Lorretta Ashby of Gandeeville WV; stepdaughters and son-in-law, Eleanor Smith of Spencer and Anna and Mike Perolis of Tallmadge OH; sisters and brother-in-law, Madge Aksenczuk of Caldwell OH and Doris and Bob Shaffer of Georgia; brothers and sister-in-law, Dewey Summerfield of Kentucky, Dorsel Summerfield of South Carolina, and John and Jan Summerfield of Polk OH; 20 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

There will be no visitation or funeral. John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, is in charge of arrangements.
