Shelby Richards Grimes, 75 - Parkersburg

Shelby Richards Grimes, 75, of Parkersburg, passed away Nov. 15, 2014, at her residence, under the loving care of her family.

She was born in Calhoun County, W.Va., March 18, 1939, a daughter of the late Everett Grandville and Docia Pearl Taylor Richards.

Shelby had worked for Easton Printing and the Parkersburg News and Sentinel. She had been active with the Big Tygart United Methodist Church and the 14th Ave. Gospel Mission. She enjoyed crafts and gardening, but most of all her family.

Shelby is survived by her husband, Jimmy Lee Grimes; daughter, Tamela Dawn Noble (Kenneth) of Moundsville, W.Va.; daughter-in-law, Chasity Fredrick of Vienna; three grandchildren, Matthew F. Noble (Kelsey) of Moundsville, Brittany D. Kaiser (Joseph) of Moundsville, and Caden D. Fredrick of Vienna; two great-grandchildren, Jacob W. Kaiser and Corbin W. Noble; three sisters, Violet Richards (Arden) of Belpre, Wilma Barnhart of Belpre, and Roberta Coler of Zephyr Hills, Fla.; two brothers, Jerry Richards (Sharon) of North Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Steven Richards (Arlene) Waynesville, N.C.; special niece, who was raised as a sister in the home, Belinda Doan (Mark) of College Station, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Shelby was preceded in death by her first husband, Hayward "Pete" Fredrick; daughter, Tonya Fredrick; son, Roland "Rick" Dean Fredrick; two sisters, Shirley Ann Richards and Linda Sinnett; and two brothers, Rondel Richards and Russell Ray Richards.

The funeral service will be at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 19, at Leavitt Funeral Home, Belpre. Burial will be at the Chestnut Grove Methodist Church Cemetery in Calhoun County. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 18, and for one hour prior to the service on Wednesday, Nov. 19, at the funeral home.
