CHARLESTON STATE-HOUSE GOES REPUBLICAN - First Since 1931

(11/06/2014)
Republicans have regained control of the WV House of Delegates and the WV State Senate for the first time since 1931.

The switching of a state senator to the Republican side broke a 17-17 tie in the WV Senate for control of that body.

Republican leaders are promising new ideas and movement with the change.

The Republican landslide was made possible by the intense dislike of President Barrack Obama, candidates tying their opponents to the unpopular president, and opposing Obama's "War on Coal."

The political change was made possible by a wide-margin of West Virginia Democrats who have consistently been voting Republican for several political seasons.
