(10/16/2014)

Harless stirs the molasses pan, entertains grandson

Harless Mace of Millstone, a dutiful volunteer at the WV Molasses Festival and dedicated Calhoun volunteer, has passed at the age of 76.

Mace, a 1957 graduate of Calhoun County High School, was an alumni band member and band booster, a consummate volunteer supporting the band program.

He enjoyed working for the community and schools and was a charter member of the Arnoldsburg Volunteer Fire Department, where he helped build the current fire hall.

Mace was a member of the West Fork Community Action and a big part of the Molasses Festival staff.

"He loved spending time with family and friends, cooking on an open fire and listening to his family play bluegrass music," said family members.

Funeral services will be at Stump Funeral Home in Arnoldsburg, Saturday at 1:00 p.m. Visitation will be held Friday from 6-9 p.m. at the funeral home. Rev. David Weaver officiating. Interment will be at the Albert's Chapel UMC Cemetery immediately following.
