Delphia Mae Vannoy, 98 - Grantsville

Delphia Mae Vannoy, 98, of Grantsville, WV, died Saturday, October 11, 2014, at Minnie Hamilton Health System, Grantsville.

She was born May 20, 1916, a daughter of the late Carl and Elizabeth Nester Vannoy. Mrs. Elizabeth Vannoy was the first person buried in Collins Community Cemetery in 1953.

On January 8, 1933 she joined Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church and was custodian there for many years. She was a former chairman of ABW White Cross. She had retired as head cook and supervisor of food services at Calhoun General Hospital. She enjoyed quilting, working in her flowers, and cooking.

She is preceded in death, in addition to her parents, by brothers, Willis, Orlis, Holly, Arnett, Thurl, Darrell, and Oral Vannoy and sister, Venia Bickerstaff.

She is survived by brother, Glenard Vannoy.

Funeral services will be held at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church on Thursday, October 16, 2014 at noon with visitation from 11:00 a.m. until time of service. Pastor Tim Underwood will officiate. Interment will be in Collins Community Cemetery, Stumptown, WV. Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, is in charge of funeral arrangements.
