Kimberly Dawn Houchin, 51, passed away on Oct 2, 2014, at the Hubbard House in Charleston, West Virginia surrounded by close family, following an extended illness.

Kim was born on January 25, 1963, daughter of Donald Brown Sampson of Grantsville and the late Wilma Berniece Dobbins Sampson.

Kim was the AAFES store manager at the 130th Air Lift Wing for a little over 10 years. She voluntarily completed a 6 month deployment in Afghanistan for AAFES in 2010. She was a member of the Beech United Methodist Church.

Kim enjoyed spending time with her friends and family. She loved to fish, sing, spend time in the mountains and at the beach, and spend every possible extra moment with her only granddaughter, Leigha Lurene Ellyson.

All that knew Kim, loved her infectious personality. Kim's smile and laughter made everyone comfortable around her. All that knew her, will miss her terribly.

Kim is suvived by her husband of 35 years Dennis C. Houchin; her daughter, Nichole L. Ellyson; son-in-law, Jay C. Ellyson and granddaughter, Leigha Lurene Ellyson. She is also survived by two brothers, Mike (Mary) Sampson of Sand Ridge WV; and Tim (Debbie) Sampson of Brohard WV; one sister, Dawnetta (Ronnie) Gordon of Lawrenceville, Virginia. Kim also left behind a sister-in-law, Linda (Danny) Arnold of Orma WV; a brother-in-law, Kenny (Eva) Houchin of Elizabeth WV. Kim is survived by a multitude of special friends who became family, too many to mention.

Kim is preceded in death by her mother, Wilma Berniece Dobbins Sampson; her paternal grandparents, Lovell and Maude (Neen) Kerby Sampson; her maternal grandparents, Arnold and Lydia Bailey Dobbins; her parents-in-law, Rex and Erma Lee Powell Houchin; and a brother-in-law, Stanley Houchin.

According to Kim's wishes, a celebration of life will be held at the Calhoun County Park near Grantsville, WV at the barn on October 18th, between 11 am and 5 pm. Pastor Rick Methaney will hold a short service at 1 pm. A private family burial will take place at a later date.
