Karen Marie Starcher McGary, 73 - Alabaster, AL

Karen Marie Starcher McGary beloved wife of Michael McGary passed away peacefully at home October 1, 2014 from complications of scleroderma.

Karen was born in Spencer, WV on November 1, 1940. She graduated from Spencer High School and Mountain State Business College.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years; one son, Michael Kent McGary of Texas; and her brother, Kent Starcher of Kannapolis, NC.

She suffered her entire life from pain caused by birth defects but never allowed the pain to slow her down or diminish her loving and compassionate spirit.

She was an accomplished artist in china painting and jewelry but she will be remembered most for her compassion for others and willingness to give comfort to those in need.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Ida Starcher, father, Woodrow Starcher, and brother, Robert Ferrell.

A service of remembrance and celebration of her life and love will be held at The First United Methodist Church Of Alabaster on October 11th at 11:00 a.m. The Church is located at 10903 Highway 119 Alabaster, AL 35007.
