KENNEDY RESIGNS AS PRESIDENT OF GILMER COMMISSION

The president of the Gilmer County Commission resigned his position as commission president Thursday. Brian Kennedy was charged with DUI in July in Gilmer County. Kennedy said Thursday he was resigning as president because he could no longer fulfill the duties of the job, but he will stay on as commissioner. The commission appointed Commissioner Larry Chapman as the new president. Kennedy's current term as commissioner runs out at the end of the year, but he's unchallenged in the Nov. 4 General Election for another term in office.
