Billy Ray Sims, 80 - Thornville OH

Billy Ray Sims, 80, of Thornville OH, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 2, 2014 at his home following a brief illness.

He was born July 20, 1934 in Big Bend, West Virginia, son of the late Walker P. and Zona (Richards) Sims.

He worked at Roper Corporation for 23 years and Premier Glass. He attended Thornville United Methodist Church. Billy was a hard worker who loved spending time with his family. He enjoyed Southern Gospel music, wood working, and gardening - especially flowers.

He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, OnaBelle, whom he married on September 24, 1959; seven children, Annabelle (Paul) Currence, Rebecca (Chuck) Cavinee, Dennis (Edna) Sims, Kenneth (Jill) Sims, Patrick (Trish) Sims, Michael (Staci) Sims and Kevin (Trish) Sims; 15 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; sister, Bonnie Buck; brothers, Jim, Rick, and Fred; as well as many other family members and friends.

In addition to his parents, Billy was preceded in death by brothers, Denver, Eugene, Walker Jr., and Harold Sims; and his grandson, Allen Sims.

Funeral services celebrating Billy's life will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday October 7, 2014 at the Stump Funeral Home in Grantsville. He will be laid to rest in Maze Family Cemetery at Munday, West Virginia.

Friends may call on Saturday, October 4, 2014, at the Thornville Hoskinson Funeral and Cremation Service, 56 S. Main St. Thornville from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., and at Stump Funeral Home, 107 Market Street, Grantsville, West Virginia on Monday, October 6, 2014 from 5 to 8 p.m. and from 10:00 am until the time of the services on Tuesday.
