Calhoun 4-H/FFA youth held the 5th annual livestock show and sale on Saturday, September 27th. It all kicked off around 8 a.m. with weigh-master Jason Nettles. All animals were weighed and placed in pens waiting for the show to begin.

Placement competition

Market Rabbits: Grand Champion Rebbicca Newlon, Reserve Grand Champion Autumn Jones, 3rd place Brooklynn Nicholson.

Feeder Calves: Grand Champion heifer, Kelsey Jett and steer, Kurtis Neely; Reserve Grand Champion Trent Cottrell, 3rd place Autumn Jones.

Market Lambs: Grand Champion Austin Coon, Reserve Grand Champion, Kole Jarvis, 3rd place Kaylee Jarvis.

Market Hog: Grand Champion Jes Summers. Dairy Goats: Grand Champion Abigail White, Reserve Grand Champion Joseph White.

Market Goat: Grand Champion Jaelyn Jett.

Rabbits were sold by the head. Rebbicca Newlon's rabbit sold for $200.00 to Roger Hanshaw. Autumn Jones' rabbit sold for $175 to Harper Auction service. Brooklynn Nicholson's rabbit sold for $175 to Butler Farms. Jes Summers's rabbit sold for $135 to Southern States. Brooklynn Swisher's rabbit sold for $160 to Kenny Arnold.

Kelsey Jett's rabbit sold for $150 to Shamblin Bros. Kole Jarvis's rabbit sold for $210 to Southern States. Austin Coon's rabbit sold for $150 to Roger Hanshaw. Brad Lacy's rabbit sold for $175 to JSC Ent. Jaelyn Jett's rabbit sold for $175 to Randall Arnold. Kaylee Jarvis's rabbit sold for $210 to Roane General Hospital.

Kelsey Jett's Feeder Heifer sold for $6.10/lb to Vineyard Farms ($3812.50). Kurtis Neely's feeder steer sold for $5.25/lb to Southern States ($3675). Trent Cottrell's feeder steer sold for $6.50/lb to Houchin Construction ($4550). Autumn Jones's feeder steer sold for $6.25/lb to Cain Farms ($3068.75). Austin Coon's market lamb sold for $10.25/lb to Calhoun Banks($1127.50).

Kole Jarvis's market lamb sold for $9.00/lb to Jason Nettles ($918). Kaylee Jarvis's market lamb sold for $9.10/lb to Jason Nettles ($882.70). Jes Summers's market hog sold for $8.50/lb to Jackson Co. Regional Livestock Market ($1785). Abigail White's dairy goat sold for 20.25/lb to Shamblin Brothers ($1093.50). Joseph White's dairy goat sold for $20/lbto JSC Enterprises ($1060). Jaelyn Jett's market goat sold for $19/lb to Nettles Equipment ($1387).

The following animals were donated back to the program and auctioned off: Autumn Jones' market rabbit for $100 Bailey Brothers and feeder steer for $3.50/lb to Jason Nettles($1718.50). Brad Lacy's market rabbit sold for $60 to Cody McCoy. Abigail White's dairy goat sold for $2.60/lb to Jackson Co. Regional livestock market ($140.40), and Joseph White'sdairy goat sold for $2.75 to Nettles Equipment ($145.75). With these donations about $2,164.65 was raised for the livestock program.
