Connie Iris Fetty, 88 - Spencer

Connie Iris Fetty, of Spencer, West Virginia, passed away on September 15, 2014 at Miletree Center, Spencer.

She was born on September 21, 1925 at Looneyville, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Robert C. and Addie Daugherty Kincaid.

She lived at 218 Second Street in Spencer for over 60 years, where she made many lasting friendships and enjoyed helping her neighbors.

She retired from the Roane County Board of Education in 1987, having worked as a cook at Spencer High School for 21 years. She also worked in a defense plant in Akron, Ohio during World War II.

She was a member of the First Advent Christian Church in Spencer, where she previously directed Vacation Bible School and was a Sunday School Superintendent. She loved and was loved by her church family. She was a wonderful seamstress, cook, and flower gardener.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil C. Fetty, in 1987, and nine siblings, her twin brother, Cobey Oris Kincaid, Haskell Kincaid, Herault Kincaid, Jerault Kincaid, Irland Kincaid, Thelma Rhodes, Phyllis McConnell, Madeline Rhone, and Eunice Kincaid.

She is survived by her daughter, Julia Boyles (David) of Spencer; three sons, Stephen Fetty of Spencer, Jeffrey (Charlotte) Fetty of Spencer, and Robert (Amelia) Fetty of Flagler Beach, Fla; grandchildren, Nathan Fetty (Kirsten), Jacob Fetty (Liberty), Andrew Fetty, Grace Boyles, Rebekah Boyles, Rachael Fetty, and Mary Kathryn Boyles; and great grandchildren, Lillian Fetty and Baehr Fetty.

Visitation will be on Friday, September 19, 2014 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., with a service at 1:00 p.m., at John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer with Pastor Jim Shamblin officiating. Burial will be in the Clover Cemetery, Clover.

In lieu of flowers, Connie's family suggests donations to American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718, or to Alzheimer's Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, D.C. 20090-6011.
