Carry Jerome "Jerry" Reed, 78 - Parkersburg

Carry Jerome "Jerry" Reed, 78, of Parkersburg, passed away on Sept. 4, 2014, at Camden Clark Medical Center, Memorial Campus.

He was born Aug. 28, 1936, in Calhoun County, W.Va., a son of the late Carry F. and Nellie Hardway Reed.

Jerry was a 1954 graduate of Calhoun County High School and a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He retired from E.I. DuPont after 37 years of service. He was an avid reader and enjoyed working crossword puzzles. He was a devoted sports fan and also coached youth sports. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, the outdoors but especially spending time with his family. He attended Cedar Grove United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Sheila Everett Reed; two daughters, Carrie Phillips (Darren Smith) and Katrina Nell Reed, both of Parkersburg; one son, Robin (Beth) Reed of Vienna, W.Va.; grandchildren, Kristen E. Phillips of Parkersburg, Mackenzie and Kailey Marie Reed and Zach Hively, all of Vienna; one sister, Judith Marie Price of Newark, W.Va.; one brother, Alvin Lee (Karen) Reed of Parkersburg; brothers-in-law, Ray Wiant and Benjamin Kerby, both of Spencer, W.Va.; sisters-in-law, Clara Everett of Vienna and Linda Reed of Grantsville, W.Va.; several nieces, nephews and aunts; In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, James and Larry Reed; and one sister, Brooksene Kerby.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 8, at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Pike St., south Parkersburg, with Pastor Brent Reed and Rev. Beth Peters officiating, with full military rites by American Legion Post 15 Parkersburg.

Interment will follow at Sycamore Cemetery, Mt. Zion, W.Va. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 7, at the funeral home.
