CALHOUN GRAND JURY ISSUES NINE INDICTMENTS

A Calhoun Grand Jury issued nine indictments Tuesday.

After hearing cases presented by Prosecutor Shannon S. Johnson and after deliberation, the Grand Jury returned the following indictments:

- David Allen Booher, 49, was indicted on two counts of forgery and two counts of uttering, all felonies. This stems from an incident in June 2012 which was investigated by Natural Resources Police Officer Charles Stephens.

- Jacquelyn Hannah, 32, was indicted on one count of fraud in obtaining welfare benefits, a felony. It is alleged that Ms. Hannah failed to report household income when applying for food stamp assistance from September 2010 to November 2011 and received $5360.00 in Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program funds as a result of her fraudulent application. This case was presented by West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources Investigator Timothy Moses.

- Adam James, 29, was indicted on one felony count for the attempted murder of Robert King. This incident stems from a shooting which occurred in April of 2014 at Stinson. Trooper D. C. Moore of the West Virginia State Police investigated this crime.

- Matthew David Jeffrey, 31, was indicted on four counts of being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm. Corporal J. B. Hunt investigated this matter and found Mr. Jeffrey in possession of four firearms on December 17, 2013. The State alleges that Mr. Jeffrey has a felony drug conviction from Noble County, Ohio which prohibits him from possessing firearms in the State of West Virginia.

- Sherry Lynne Jones, 57, was indicted on one count of fraud in obtaining welfare benefits, a felony, and one count of false statements or representations in obtaining medical assistance, a felony. An investigation conducted by Timothy Moses of the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources revealed that Ms. Jones allegedly used her sister's Medicaid card to obtain medical services for herself in the amount of $1,127.42 from March 2011 to May 2011.

- Danny Lockhart, 57, was indicted on one count of manufacturing a controlled substance, marijuana, a felony. This charge stemmed from an investigation completed by Sgt. M. Smith of the West Virginia State Police in July of 2011. Officers confiscated over one thousand plants from the site. Douglas Lynch and Nicholas Davis were indicted by the May Grand Jury for this incident as well.

- Danny Lockhart was also indicted on one count of sexual abuse in the first degree, a felony, from an incident occurring in June of 2011. Corporal J. E. Kincaid of the West Virginia State Police investigated the incident.

- Andrew Tanner, 32, was indicted on one count of grand larceny, a felony. Trooper B. A. Shingleton of the West Virginia State Police investigated this case. It is alleged that Mr. Tanner stole an air conditioning unit valued at over $2000.00 from the Calhoun Cooperative Parish Mission in Minnora, WV on or about May 19, 2014.

- February Michelle Williams, 36, was indicted on one count of grand larceny, a felony, one count of embezzlement, a felony, and one count of fraudulent schemes, a felony. It is alleged that Ms. Williams stole cash deposits from her employer, the Pit Stop in Mt. Zion, from June of 2013 to January of 2013. This case was investigated by Senior Trooper J.A. Newman of the West Virginia State Police.

Indictments returned against individuals are merely charges at this time and are not indications of guilt. All the above defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
