Bernice Lenore Chambers, 96 - Spencer

Bernice Lenore Chambers, 96, of Spencer WV formerly of Clover WV, died Monday, September 1, 2014, in the Ravenswood Care Center, Ravenswood, after an extended illness.

She was born June 15, 1918 at Otto, a daughter of the late Marius P. and Roberta Webb Starcher. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Wilbur "Chink" Chambers; daughter, Sharon Chambers Egnor; granddaughter, Carmalieta Chambers; brothers, Frank, Carl, John, Fred and Billy Starcher; sisters, Jessie Suttle, Ester Niday, Claire Lewis, Myrl Starcher, Effie Wallbrown and Azeline Somerville.

Mrs. Chambers was a retired supervisor for Kellwood Corp., Spencer. She was a charter member of the Banner Advent Christian Church and a charter member of the Clover Community Church and attended the St. John's United Methodist Church, Spencer. She was also an active member of the Roane General Hospital Auxiliary, Clover Homemakers Club and the Roane County Cancer Coalition.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Brian W. and April Chambers of Jupiter, FL; son-in-law, Richard "Jackie" Egnor of Parkersburg; two grandchildren, Richard Todd Egnor and Nanette Egnor; two great grandchildren, Stuart Egnor and Larkyn Guerrieri.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 4 in the John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, with the Rev. Daniel R. Whited officiating. Burial will be in the Clover Cemetery, Clover. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Bernice had requested that donations be made to the Clover Cemetery No. 1, 3533 Clay Road, Spencer, WV 25276.
